Historic Houses
Both houses are in the shadow of MacArthur Center

  • The Willoughby-Baylor House, at 601 E. Freemason St.
Completed in 1794, this building was the long-time home of the Norfolk History Museum. Now we present a mix of art and artifacts

  • The Moses Myers House at 323 E. Freemason St. .
The oldest Jewish home in America open to the public as a museum, offers a glimpsel of the life of an early 19th century merchant family.

About the Chrysler Museum of Art
Mission: The Chrysler Museum exists to enrich and transform lives. We bring art and people together through experiences that delight, inform, and inspire.

One of the Best Collections for a Museum of Our Size—Anywhere
Over the years, a lot of people have contributed to the strength of our collection. The difference maker between our institution and other mid-sized museums was one of the greatest Museum gifts in American history. It came from Walter Chrysler, Jr.

One of America's Six Magnetic Museums, and from Charity Navigator, the Nation's Most Fiscally Responsible Museum in 2013.

Two authors searching for the most innovative American Museums settled on six prime examples, and we were one of the Magnetic Museums.

The nation's top philanthropic evaluator gives us its top rating, four stars, for how we handle your money. In 2013, Charity Navigator rated us the country's top museum for fiscal management. In 2014, we earned another great score (94.8).

The Chrysler Museum of Art is home to a collection of nearly 30,000 objects spanning 5,000 years of history. Highlights include an impressive and comprehensive survey of European and American painting and sculpture, a world-renowned glass collection, a rich photography program, and art from African, Asian, Egyptian,
Pre-Columbian and Islamic cultures. Collection

Our Studio: Glass as Art, Glass Art as Performance Art
Our Glass Studio opened Nov. 2, 2011, and ever since has offered daily demonstrations, visiting artists, a full range of classes, and glass art as performance art.

Considering the Chrysler has one of America's top collections of glass art, the fit is perfect.
