The Bascom
Highlands, NC

Beginning June 2009, when the new campus opens, hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm.The Bascom is a nonprofit center for the visual arts in the resort community of Highlands, in Western North Carolina. In late May, it will move to a six-acre, $11 million, "green," architect-designed campus featuring historic buildings, a covered bridge, a nature trail, a 23,000 square foot main building for two-dimensional adult and children’s art, a separate reconstructed Barn Studio for three-dimensional art, a café, a terrace for venue rentals, and much more.

The Bascom is a not-for-profit charitable entity focused on education. It has been in existence since 1983 offering high-quality rotating exhibitions, classes and educational presentations. The Bascom provides a dynamic experience that inspires and attracts residents and visitors through interaction with all forms of visual arts. At The Bascom, children and adults explore and learn about art, both indoors and outdoors.
